Conservation Medicine & Collection of Sea Turtle Samples Workshop

On Saturday October 17th, in the Hotel Pueblo Bonito Rose Ballroom, La Costa, a workshop on conservation medicine and samples of sea turtles was held, sponsored by the city of Los Cabos, through the Program for the Protection of Sea Turtles, the Grupo Tortuguero Las Californias, Pueblo Bonito Group and the Letty Coppel Foundation.

The workshop was conducted by Dr. Alan Alonso Aguirre of Wildlife Trust and Alan Zavala MC Norzagaray IDRC-IPN, who shared their knowledge and experiences regarding conservation medicine, biosecurity measures in the collection of samples and legal issues. The workshop was followed by an interesting question and answer session.

Upon completion of the event, a sea turtle with a transmitter was released. This is to help conduct further research on the route of the Olive Ridley migration.
